Balatonboglári Városvédő Egyesület

About us:

As a 34-year-old association with a strong sense of local pride, BVE recognized the importance of civic engagement and community building in early 2023. Recently, the association’s activities have become more focused, thanks to the ECK Catalyst grant it received in 2024. They have successfully narrowed the focus of their civic engagement, which has also contributed to their acceptance within the community.

Project Description:
Over the past two years, BVE has achieved results in the following four areas by raising awareness and educating the local community: 1. The European Union is our home, 2. Balatonboglár, the “Liveable City,” 3. the sustainability of our environment, the “Green and Blue” program, 4. Building bridges between generations. Project teams have been established for these four areas, and the number of active volunteers has grown. BVE intends to continue the work it has begun and achieve the goals outlined in the grant application. By winning the grant, BVE is making an effort to further strengthen its local social impact, engage young people, and build and develop the community. A prerequisite for this is further increasing its resources and making them more predictable. To this end, they are embarking on the 2026–28 period with a new approach and new plans. Their goal is to employ talented and committed young people through an internship program to help achieve their objectives, with the clear intention of selecting from among them BVE’s first “employee,” whose responsibility and task will be community building and community development.
